When you are too lazy to leave your apartment…

So today, I woke up late (yay!) and did not leave my apartment until 6pm. I promise you – I totally deserved it!! This week was a long one. A good one – but a long one. Mama needed rest!! With rest came laziness. I could not get off of my couch. I watched everything from La Bamba to Rudy – total tear jerkers, might I add! In the middle of crying, watching tv and sipping some tea – I started to develop a sweet tooth. I do need to mention a key factor in this sweet tooth development. Today was the first day it felt like Fall outside. My windows were open and AC was turned off! It got me craving cinnamon, apples and sugar and my candles didn’t cut it. (lol) So, with that being said – I searched through my kitchen and ended up making the BEST dessert ever. I cut up an organic gala apple, and sprinkled cinnamon and Stevia on top – popped it in the microwave for 2 minutes and voila! I was in heaven! You’ve gotta try it!! You’ll thank me later!! I call it sinless apple pie -tastes just like it but without all the calories! 🙂

I love the Pearl and its peaceful ways <3

I am a person who finds peace in nature. When I am feeling blue, have things on my mind or need some reflection time, I just take a walk outside and everything makes sense. I love finding trails, exploring new territories but most of all, I love visiting my favorite spots in town. One of those spots is the Pearl Brewery. Flowers, art, waterfalls and people are just a few of the beautiful sights to see along the river. You’ll leave feeling great and you’ll keep going back. I consider it San Antonio’s gem. 🙂

Trudy’s. Mexican Martinis & Memories

It is hard to beleive that 14 years ago I was living in Austin and was a student at UT. How in the world did time go by so quickly!? It still blows my mind. Not only that, but 10 years ago I graduated from UT. This makes me 32 years old!! WOW. Every time I visit Austin (which is often) it takes me back. I lived there for about 4 1/2 years and during those years, SO much happened. There were good times, not-so-good times, crazy times and fun times. The one place that I would frequent for celebrations, catch up sessions, girl talk, heart-to-hearts and just to have fun, was Trudy’s. Trudy’s was kind of my “go-to” in every situation. I would order the famous Mexican Martini, chips & salsa and talk the night away. It was the BEST. Back in the day, there was only one location – central off of West 30th St. Now, there are several locations. Nothing is like the original though – it just has that Austin look & feel. Tonight I had a reunion dinner with my two college roommates Katie and Heather. It was so fun to A) see each other B) talk about our lives C) talk about our past memories together and D) plan new future adventures! This is so awesome to me because we met when we were 18 years old. Our reunion just reminded me of the times we have shared and it made me also think of what is yet to come. I left feeling really proud and grateful of the strong friendships I made in Austin. Not only did I receive an awesome education (thanks Dad!!), I gained a second family. And to think, it all started over a few Mexican Martinis 🙂

The Palm “Where Everybody Knows Your Name!”

Picture this. You walk into a restaurant and you are immediately welcomed with BIG hugs and smiles ALL the way around! You are excited to find out which one of your friends is working or which of your friends is dining. Cool huh?! If you could experience this EVERY time you went somewhere, wouldn’t you want to go ALL THE TIME?? Yep. I thought so. 🙂 This is how I feel when I go to The Palm, San Antonio. I have made many wonderful friends at The Palm, and of course I owe it all to Robert Sanchez, aka the Prince of the River Walk. Robert was the Sales Manager at The Palm San Antonio until recently. He received a promotion as the Sales Manager of The Palm West in New York and moved about 2 months ago. (YAY) It was always a treat to visit Robert for lunch or a “quick” drink after work. As I became a “regular,” I built friendships, joined the 837 Club and created many memories that will last forever. For me, The Palm feels like home. Don’t let the name scare you. Even though it is fine-dining, The Palm is welcoming. The service is on point whether you are in a suit or sandals. And of course, the food is amazing. Some of my favorite items on the menu are the Sesame Seared Ahu Tuna (I know, random but SO GOOD!), the Dirty Shrimp, the Gigi salad, and the Nova Scotia Lobster BLT. Also, try the Chicken Parmigiana – it’s pretty spectacular, especially as your first meal after completing a half marathon. Trust me, I speak from experience. My favorite drink is the Lemon Drop Martini – you must try it! If you are looking for a great happy hour, lunch or dinner, go to The Palm. And maybe one day, you will see my face on the wall 🙂
